Our Story Didn’t Start With a Fishing Lodge

It started with a lake, a family, and a connection to Kishkutena that goes back generations. Long before Anglers Retreat had a name, this place was already part of our story.

Comfortable Accommodations

Settle into a comfortable, fully equipped wilderness cabin with running hot water, a full kitchen, indoor washroom facilities and plenty of space to relax. Step outside onto the deck and the lake is right there.

Kishkutena Lake offers outstanding smallmouth and largemouth bass, muskie and lake trout fishing. With access to nearby portage lakes and miles of water to explore, there’s always another shoreline, bay or fishing hole waiting.

Wilderness  & Adventure

Beyond the fishing, explore quiet trails, paddle the lake by canoe or kayak, watch for wildlife, or simply see where the day takes you. With miles of untouched Northwestern Ontario wilderness around you, adventure starts right outside the cabin.

Your adventure begins with the flight in. Leave the roads behind and arrive by floatplane on Kishkutena Lake, surrounded by water, forest and the kind of quiet that’s getting harder to find.

Your cabin is ready for you when you arrive. We supply the everyday essentials, boats, paddling equipment and the comforts that make a remote stay easy. You bring your groceries, personal gear and fishing tackle. We’ll take care of the rest.

What types of fish can I expect to catch at Kishkutena Lake?

Kishkutena Lake is known for excellent fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass, muskie, and lake trout.

Are fishing licenses required for guests?

Yes. Guests who plan to fish are responsible for obtaining the appropriate Ontario fishing licence before their trip.

What amenities are included in the accommodations?

Our cabins are fully equipped for a comfortable wilderness stay, with comfortable beds, full kitchen facilities, indoor washroom facilities, running hot water and plenty of deck space. Guests also have access to 14- to 16-foot boats with 6 to 20 hp motors and a screened gazebo.

How do I get to Anglers Retreat?

Anglers Retreat is a remote fly-in destination, accessible by floatplane. Your adventure begins with the flight into Kishkutena Lake, where you’ll land right at the retreat. We’ll provide all the travel details you need when you book.

Do the cabins have electricity and running water?

Yes. Both cabins have solar-powered electricity and access to running hot water. The main cabin has a full kitchen and indoor washroom with a flush toilet, while the smaller cabin provides additional comfortable sleeping space.

Can families and non-anglers enjoy the trip?

Absolutely. There’s plenty to do beyond fishing. Explore the lake by canoe or kayak, walk the trails, watch for wildlife, or simply relax on the deck and enjoy the quiet. Anglers Retreat is as much about experiencing the wilderness as it is about fishing.
